The
Region 16 Education Service Center encompasses a primary service
area of 26,000 square miles and 26 counties with 63 school districts
responsible for 80,000 students. The State of Texas is one of
the lowest in the nation in the count of public school districts
giving support for the arts. School districts in the region,
with the exception of Amarillo ISD, have no organized music
programs other than band and choir. In fact, half of the 63
school districts in the Panhandle of Texas have closed their
arts programs due to lack of funding. WOWW plans to serve every
K-5 student in the Texas Panhandle by the 2012-2013 school year. |
