All 5th graders of Region 16 are invited to participate in the annual WOWW Science Collaborative at Panhandle Plains Historical Museum. Hands-on learning stations will allow students to view and participate in activities that will focus on EARTH and ENERGY relating to the 5th-grade science curriculum. It offers an unforgettable learning experience for 5th graders as they make the learning connections in science for life and will better prepare them for the STARR test.

Texas Native from Austin, Texas, Guy Forsyth has long enjoyed engaging students at his live shows with rich Americana and Blues roots sound. Forsyth comes prepared with vocals, acoustic, electric & slide guitar, harmonica, ukulele and even singing saw. He is very interactive with the kids as well as educating them on all the different sounds he is playing and having them make their own sounds as well. Students will have the opportunity to: hear and observe multiple instruments as Guy Forsyth demonstrates them, recognize similarities and differences in instruments, and ask questions at the end of his program. February 26, 2020 6:00 pm | GNC, Gilliland Education Room, 500 S Buchanan 

4th and 5th grade students are invited to participate in the Youth Art Show. Students can choose to create art under the following topics: “Envisioning the Future”, “Places I’d Like To Go”, “Places I’ve Been”, “Imagination”, or “Inspirational Ideas”. Art submissions will be displayed at The Globe News Center of Performing Arts in the Gilliland Education Room. All artists and families will be invited to attend an evening reception. Students will have the opportunity to: be creative and use their imagination as they submit their artwork to be judged for a chance to win $100.00.

Deadline to submit artwork is January 31, 2020.
